Chocolate Challenge: Getting Chocolate Stains Out of Clothes
Chocolate – yum yum yum! Whether it’s candy bars, ice cream, or frosting, almost everyone loves chocolate. The problem is that chocolate isn’t exactly a “mess-free” food, especially for kids.
Whenever we give out a treat to the toddlers, we know there’s a good chance we’ll get chocolate-y clothes as our “Thank you.” Not to worry though – check out this simple tip for clearing out the chocolate stains!
What You’ll Need
- Butter Knife
- Large Bowl
- Laundry Detergent
- Stain Treatment
Let’s Get Cleaning!
– Step 1 –
First things first – you need to start cleaning the stain as soon as you can. The longer it sits, the tougher it’ll get. Using the butter knife, remove as much of the chocolate material as you can. Scrape towards the center of the spot to prevent if from spreading.
– Step 2 –
Apply the stain treatment to the spot, carefully following the instructions on the bottle.
– Step 3 –
If it’s a particularly nasty stain, mix laundry detergent with cold water in a large bowl and soak the shirt in it for 30 minutes.
– Step 4 –
Launder the item after this, but use cold water instead of hot or warm water. That should decrease the chances of the stain setting.
– Step 5 –
Once the wash cycle is done, air dry the article to make sure the stain is gone. If it’s still there, repeat this process again.
And the chocolate should be gone! Hopefully the kids will be more careful next time, but we all know that’s not going to happen. : )
