Fixing Frustration: Lemons!
When Life Gives You Lemons . . .
Well, it’s our last Fixing Frustration blog for this week and we’re going to end with a bang. Or rather, with lemons. So let’s look at the noble lemon and how it can help you in three great ways.
Rust Spots on Utensils
When you find that your stainless steel knives or utensils are getting rust spots, lemon’s are the solution. Get some lemon juice and fill a tall glass with it. Next, put your knives/utensils into the lemon juice and let them sit there for a few minutes. After they’ve soaked, remove them and scrub them with a sponge and water; you should find that the rust spots come off with no problem.
Hard Water Stains
It doesn’t seem like water should cause stains, does it? Unfortunately it does, but a lemon sliced in half will fix this problem. Use the lemon like a sponge and scrub at those stains – the acidic lemon juice will safely remove the hard water marks. Be sure to rinse and dry the area afterwards.
Garbage Disposal Odor
Ah, the Garbage Disposal – incredibly useful and, if not properly cared for, smelly. Here’s a neat way to make deodorizing “tabs” with vinegar and lemons. Get some ice trays and put a small slice of lemon in each one. Next, Fill the ice trays up with white vinegar and freeze them. Once they’re frozen, bag them up to reduce any vinegar smell in your freezer. Now, whenever the garbage disposal smells a little off, throw a cube or two in and let it run. Alternatively, you could use a cube every day or so to prevent smells from forming in the first place.
Well, I hope this week’s Fixing Frustration series has helped you out. Like us on Facebook if you want to see more of this series!
