Jonathan Barnett Shares Inspiration Behind Oxi Fresh
What drives you? What’s the passion that makes you get up in the morning? Recently, Jonathan Barnett, the founder of our carpet cleaning franchise company, talked with Hayden Field of Entrepreneur Magazine about his passion. Specifically, they discussed the passion project that helped create Oxi Fresh and the ways we’re helping our franchisees pursue growth.
“I started Oxi Fresh in 2006, and I’ve learned a lot in the intervening years,” said Jonathan about the interview, “I’m always excited when I get to talk about my journey. It’s a chance to share those lessons and help budding entrepreneurs or potential carpet cleaning franchisees.”
As we mentioned earlier, Jonathan spoke about the passion that helped create Oxi Fresh. Back in 2006, he was helping run a Christian basketball ministry called Crossover International. This organization would travel abroad and run basketball training camps, play games against local teams, and share their message. He wanted his new business, Oxi Fresh, to help fund this non-profit.
And it did so for years! While Crossover isn’t active anymore, Jonathan is still an advocate for businesses giving back. To that end, Oxi Fresh now supports Water.org. This charity works to help people in need across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, helping families get access to safe water and sanitation solutions. We donate to Water.org with every job that customers schedule online.
“Every company should give back,” said Jonathan, “because we all have a responsibility to help make our world a better place. I’m proud to help support Water.org and, I hope, that our giving inspires our customers to donate to them as well.”
The Scheduling Center and Giving Back
After talking about the carpet cleaning franchise’s history of giving, Mr. Barnett and Ms. Field moved onto how we’re helping our franchisees build up their locations. They talked about our Scheduling Center and protected territories specifically.
“Imagine you’re out in the field or coordinating your cleaning team, but every few minutes you’re interrupted by a call from a customer,” said Mr. Barnett, “Being constantly interrupted isn’t exactly conducive to running a productive carpet cleaning franchise.”
To help franchisees overcome this challenge, we operate a national Scheduling Center. Customers can call in and one of our friendly representatives will pick up, answer their questions, and schedule their appointment. This frees up our franchisees to focus on developing their business instead of getting stuck in the daily grind.
Our protected territories also help our franchisees. We don’t allow franchisees to advertise their neighbor’s territories, which prevents internal competition. Rather than having to worry about what their neighbor is doing, our carpet cleaning franchisees can instead share best practices and work together. It’s a win-win for the franchisees!
