Oxi Fresh Receives EPA’s Design for the Environment Certification

Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top Carpet Cleaning Franchise Meets Stringent Review to Gain Design for the Environment Label Approval

Lakewood, CO – Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning, the World’s Greenest Carpet Cleaner® and fastest-growing carpet cleaning franchise has always been dedicated to providing “green” carpet cleaning solutions to its customers. Today, they continued to prove their commitment when they announced that one of their core cleaning products has received the Environment Protection Agency’s Design for the Environment Certification.

The Design for the Environment Label (DfE) is only granted to products that have been proven safe for both families and the environment. In order to determine the safety of such products, the DfE scientific review team screens each and every ingredient for potential dangers – checking not only for the safety of each chemical by itself, but also looking for negative synergies and chemicals that mask one another. All of this study, examining chemicals structures and components for their potential impact, all goes to protect consumers and the environment.

“Our product, which is part of a system that harnesses the power of oxygen, has successfully made it through the EPA’s rigorous testing process and can now proudly bear the label marking it as Design for the Environment certified, “ said Jonathan Barnett, President of Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning®. “After months of testing, we were able to improve dilution so that less product will need to be made, reducing shipping costs and the amount of packaging needed, fitting in with our emphasis on being a green franchise concept.”

Rather than using chemicals and steam, Oxi Fresh uses a proprietary eco-friendly carpet cleaning system that harnesses the power of oxygen. The unique Oxi Fresh system touts pile-lifting technology that actually lifts dirt and oil from the bottom of a carpet pile rather than pushing it deeper into the carpet – like some cleaners do. Through this unique technology, Oxi Fresh uses far less water than other carpet cleaning services. While other carpet cleaners use upwards of 50-gallons of water per cleaning job, Oxi Fresh uses only two-gallons.

“As we receive ongoing national honors, Oxi Fresh will continue its mission to provide eco-friendly solutions to help our clients meet their carpet-cleaning needs,” said Barnett.

In less than four years, Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning® has become The World’s Greenest Carpet Cleaner®, with more than 200 locations across the United States. Oxi Fresh has experienced such success because it offers customers a shorter dry time (one-hour instead of 24 hours) through harnessing the power of oxygen rather than chemicals and steam. Also, a national scheduling center ensures someone always answers customers’ calls and that their needs are easily handled over the phone or online.

ABOUT EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE):
EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE) works in partnership with industry, environmental groups, and academia to reduce risk to people and the environment by finding ways to prevent pollution. For more than 15 years, through partnership projects, DfE has evaluated human health and environmental concerns associated with traditional and alternative chemicals and processes in a range of industries. These analyses have empowered hundreds of businesses to select safer chemicals and technologies. DfE focuses on industries that combine the potential for chemical risk reduction with a strong motivation to make lasting, positive changes. More recently, DfE has been helping consumers and industrial purchasers make wise choices by identifying safe and effective products. It has evaluated and allowed more than 1,500 products to carry the DfE logo. Every year, DfE programs reduce the use of chemicals of concern by hundreds of million pounds.
