Oxi Fresh Cleans Carpets, Saves Water and Wins Customers
Green Cleaning and Fast Dry Times Give Oxi Fresh Franchisees an Edge
Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning® and its franchisees own their mission of environmentally responsible, customer-pleasing services. Its franchisees use green, fast-drying carpet cleaning products and a cutting-edge machine that erases years of dirt without heavily saturating the carpet.
“Oxi Fresh’s system uses 95% less water than your average steam cleaning,” says Matt Kline, Oxi Fresh’s director of franchise development. “We conserve natural resources and offer our customers one-hour average dry times, a serious advantage over much of the competition. Our carpet cleaning products are safe for people and pets, giving customers and franchisees peace of mind. We also erase grime and dirt without leaving behind any crunchy or sticky residues.” (Oxi Fresh technicians also clean upholstery, tile and grout, and hardwood floors.)
“We make customers very happy with the quality of their service, which enables our franchisees to earn great reviews, pursue repeat business throughout the customer’s life, and gain word-of-mouth referrals. Reviews, reputation and repeat customers are vital to a local service business.”
Kline says the company’s values and culture support those three R’s. “We believe in doing right by our customers, operating sustainably and giving back to the global community,” which includes regular donations to the life-saving nonprofit organization Water.org. “These values and sustainable practices are key reasons why many customers prefer to hire Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning.”
As part of his job, Kline talks with and evaluates franchisee candidates. “We want franchisees who are proud of the eco-friendly business model, the quality of their team’s work, and their impact on their community. We look for candidates who reflect that ethos. From our earliest calls, we look for people who will be excited and motivated to get their business up and running. We give every lead a clear picture of what ownership could realistically look like for them, whether they want to run the business as a semi-absentee owner, an owner-operator or anywhere in between.”
Owning It!
Oxi Fresh franchisees should have a strong sense of ownership. “We expect Oxi Fresh franchisees and their teams to exhibit professionalism, courtesy, cleaning expertise and a deep commitment to quality customer service in everything they do — while we do everything we can to support them. As a representative of the brand, our franchisees need to take pride in the cleanings and making customers happy. Franchisees will always be managing their businesses, embracing the advice of the home office team, and finding ways to grow and improve their operations.”
New franchisees undergo “rigorous training that ensures they have the tools, skills and know-how to launch and operate their businesses. This starts with a comprehensive discovery day program that includes several days of in-person training in the field with technicians and with our home office staff in Lakewood, Colo.” Onboarding takes 30 days, and every franchisee has access to six months of one-on-one coaching.
More support comes from the franchise’s search-engine-optimized website, multichannel marketing tools, local search optimization, and fully staffed scheduling center and online scheduler tool. The company has also organized a franchise advisory council composed of top-performing franchisees who advise the corporate team on their needs and challenges. “Then we develop trackable action items to address their concerns in a timely manner,” Kline says.
In addition to its strong systems and support, Oxi Fresh appeals for its affordability — with a single-unit franchise fee of $46,900 as well as low overhead as a home-based model. The franchisor connects candidates with third-party lenders, Kline says, and after that, “it’s up to them to truly own and drive their business to the highest levels.” The 18-year-old franchise has almost 500 franchised units, and large protected territories are available in the U.S. and Canada.
