A Tasty Treat: Kale Chips!
Kale has become a popular veggie lately, showing up in everything from salads to shakes. Actually, it would be more accurate to say it’s become popular again. Yep, kale was once a big deal in the Middle Ages, in fact it was one of the most popular greens at the time!
And with its resurgence we wanted to share a little recipe from Melissa d’Arabian on the FoodNetwork.com – Kale Chips! These crispy little treats are a delight and way better for you than potato or tortilla chips.
What You’ll Need
1 Head of Kale
2 Teaspoons of Olive Oil
Sea Salt
Let’s Get Cooking
Step 1: Set the oven to 275ºF.
Step 2: Wash your head of kale, breaking off the leafs and drying them as you go.
Step 3: Slice the ribs out of the kale leafs.
Step 4: Cut the leafs into 1” or 1.5” squares.
Step 5: Toss the leafs in the olive oil.
Step 6: Place leafs on an oven-safe cooling rack and lightly salt them.
Step 7: Place the cooling rack on a cookie sheet and bake it for 20 minutes (or until the leafs are crispy).
Then you just take the chips out, let them cool and munch away!
Thanks again to Melissa d’Arabian for the recipe and the user Smojet for the cooling rack tip.
