Step 1: Furniture Inspection & Set-Up
At the start of any Oxi Fresh upholstery cleaning appointment, we inspect the furniture we’re about to clean. Our goal is to provide the best results, and the more information we have, the better we can do.
First, we look for the upholstery tag. This tag can include lots of valuable information, namely cleaning instructions and material information. The former lets us know if the piece is cleanable with our process. The latter lets us know if there could be any issues with the material itself—some natural fibers are extremely delicate and we avoid treating those, for example.
After checking the furniture tag, we inspect the piece for any particularly dirty areas or damages. Spotting these now lets us adjust our cleaning process so we can get the best results.
Last but not least, we’ll prepare the piece for the upholstery cleaning. We’ll make sure we have access to all sides, use a drop cloth where necessary, and set up fans to accelerate the drying process.
Step 2: Vacuuming & Pre-Treatment
Next in our upholstery cleaning, whether it’s for residential or commercial customers, we’ll vacuum the piece to remove debris, loose dirt, pet hair, and more. After that, we’ll spray the upholstery fabric with our pretreatment solution. The enzyme in the product is particularly good at breaking down dirt, oils, and grime.
After we apply the product, we then agitate the fabric with a special brush. This agitation both works the product into the fabric and further breaks apart dirt and grime.
Step 3: Rinsing and Extracting
Once the pretreatment has had a little time to dwell, it’s time for the Oxi Pro Upholstery Machine. We use our excellent machine to carefully rinse and thoroughly extract the upholstery fabric, removing the grit, dirt, and grime broken down by the cleaning products and manual agitation.
We start this step of the upholstery cleaning process by doing a “wet” pass of each cushion—where rinse water is applied—followed by multiple “dry” passes—no water, just extraction. We treat the removable cushions first and set them up as a tent to accelerate drying.
We then clean the upholstered frame in sections, focusing on getting each part in great condition before moving on. Once we’re done, the broken-down dirt from our pretreatment process is extracted, and the furniture is well on its way to looking grand.
Step 4: Encapsulation and Grooming
Once the entire piece has been rinsed and extracted, we’ll spritz it with our Oxi Rinse solution. This product’s encapsulating agent will help capture any residual dirt and combat future soiling for a time. The product also fights the formation of any residues or water stains caused by the drying process.
After the Oxi Rinse has been applied, we’ll wrap up the professional upholstery cleaning by grooming the piece so the fabric nap lays flat. We want it to look great for you, and the last thing you’ll want is a clean piece of furniture with the nap lying in different directions across the entire piece.

Now that our professional upholstery cleaning is finished, we’ll carefully inspect the piece to make sure the results are high quality. We’ll then show you the results of our cleaning process and give you advice about dry times, when to reinstall the cushions, and so on.
