Yummy Jello Easter Eggs!

Marshmallow chicks, jellybeans, and chocolate bunnies – the usual Easter basket fare is all well and good, but why not try something a little more special this year? Introducing Jello Easter Eggs!

While there are quite a few steps to this process, the results are so pretty and tasty that they’re definitely worth it. Let’s dive in!

What You’ll Need
12 Plastic Easter Eggs (Jumbo Size)
1 Power Drill w/Drill Bit (In the neighborhood of 13/64)
Empty Egg Carton (Bottom half only)
Medicine Syringe
4 Mixing Bowls
Saran Wrap
Cooking Spray (Non-Stick, Non-Flavored)
6 Boxes of Jello (All Different Colors)
16 oz. Tub of Whipped Topping

Step 1
Before you get started with the Jello, we’ve got to prepare the eggs. Drill a hole in the bottom of the plastic eggs that’s large enough for the medicine syringe. Make sure you remove any and all loose plastic after drilling the holes. That is SUPER important.

Step 2
Thoroughly wash and dry the plastic eggs.

Step 3
Spray the insides of the eggs with the cooking spray. The goal here is to make it easy for the Jello Eggs to pop out when everything is finished, but you don’t want to use too much spray or you’ll taste it on the eggs.

Step 4
Close up the plastic eggs and set them in the egg carton, with the drilled holes pointed up. If there are small holes at the other side of the egg, use a piece of saran wrap to cover them up. You don’t want the Jello to run out, after all!

Step 5
It’s time to start cooking. Begin by boiling one cup of water and dissolving the first Jello packet in it (choose your first color wisely)! After that, pour half of the mixture into each of the two bowls.

Step 6
In one of the bowls add a 1/3 cup of whipped topping and use a whisk to thoroughly mix it with the Jello.

Now you’ll have one bowl of clear liquid Jello and one bowl with opaque Jello.

We recommend prepping another one of your colors now in the other two mixing bowls. Doing this gives the Jello more time to cool down before being added to the egg, which allows for a shorter cooling times in the fridge.

Step 7
Using the syringe, slowly squirt about 10 ML of the clear Jello into each egg. Pop the eggs into the refrigerator for 10 minutes to help the Jello set.

Step 8
Next, squirt the same amount of the opaque Jello into the eggs. Remember to squirt slowly or you’ll mess up the layers. Refrigerate the eggs again for about 10 minutes.

Step 9
Now you’ll repeat this process for each of the other five colors of Jello you bought, giving you 12 layers of different color for your Jello.

It’s very important to clean your bowls, syringes, and other implements between the different Jello colors. If you don’t, you’ll end up with a mishmash of colors.

Step 10
After giving the last layer a little more time in the fridge (30 minutes), it’s time to crack the eggs open.

Take the eggs and briefly run them under some warm water. Next, gently squeeze the egg along the seam to separate the Jello from the plastic. It can be a little easier if you remove the bottom half of the egg first.

And there you go! Jello Easter Eggs! Yum!

Ramone was the person that cleaned our carpeting. He came on time, was very professional and cordial. He finished in the time frame he said he would and answered all my quetsions. A real pleasure to work with. I think he went above and beyond my expectations. I have been very happy with the results of the cleaning. I had some pretty tough areas that needed it and they all look so much better. There is just one spot on a landing of the stairs that did not come as clean as the rest of the carpet. One of the reasons that I chose Oxy Fresh is because of the claim that it would dry in 1 hour. It really was not all or completely dry until the next morning.* (My appointment was at noon.) This maybe was because Ramone did give the stubborn areas an extra dose and scrub. The extra drying time was not an issue for me however. I was really impressed with how easy it was to schedule and get my estimate online which ended up being spot-on with the final payment. I was also amazed at how soon I could get this done. The process was so easy that I called the morning of to be sure that I was still scheduled. Thank you Oxy Fresh. I will definitely call you again. PG. - Evergreen, CO - 05/02/2024
