Savory Bagel Stuffing!
Turkey Day is coming soon. For some of us, that means long flights and crowded airports. For others, it means recipe books and hot ovens.
If you’re in the latter group, we’ve got a great recipe for you this year. Rather than go with your traditional stuffing , try this savory, easy-to-make bagel stuffing!
What You’ll Need
– 4 Everything Bagels
– Softened Cream Cheese (8 oz.)
– Chopped Smoked Salmon (6 oz.)
– Chicken Broth (2 cups)
– Drained Capers (2 tbsp)
– Caper Brine (1 oz.)
– Diced Red Onion (1/2 cup)
– Minced Garlic (2 cloves)
– Sesame Seeds (1 tbsp.)
– Unsalted Butter (1 tbsp.)
Let’s Get Cooking
– Step 1 –
Tear the bagels into bite size chunks, lay them out on a baking sheet, and toast them at 250ºF until dry.
– Step 2 –
Put a small saucepan on low heat. Melt the butter in the pan, add in the garlic and sesame seeds, and swirl for 3 – 5 minutes (or until it’s a golden brown color).
– Step 3 –
Pour in the chicken broth, add the cream cheese to the butter mixture, and bring the heat up to medium (you want to bring the mixture to a simmer). Make sure you stir the mixture to help dissolve the cream cheese.
– Step 4 –
Fill a 9 x 13” baking dish with half of the bagel chunks and spread half of the capers and onions on top. Add the chopped salmon on top of this.
– Step 5 –
Add the remaining half of the bagel chunks to the top as the rest of the capers and onions. Sprinkle the caper brine on top.
– Step 6 –
Spread the chicken broth/butter/cream cheese mixture over the bagels. Use a spatula to get an even spread.
– Step 7 –
Bake the dish at 350ºF for 15 minutes. Let the dish cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
