The EPA's Design for the Environment Certification

Since it was founded in 1970, the Environmental Protection Agency has been working hard to combat the effects and spread of pollution, while at the same

time trying to educate all of us about how we can positively or negatively affect the world around us with our daily actions. One of the programs they’ve began is called Design for the Environment, and its goal is to stringently research commercial and household cleaning products and, if they meet the strictest requirements for environmental and consumer safety, they are approved for the EPA’s DfE Certification.

This is not an easy process by any stretch of the imagination – it’s distinctly arduous as a matter of fact. A team of scientist from the Environmental Protection Agency examines each chemical, the amounts used, and the way various chemicals will interact. They also look for masked chemicals, consider the safety of materials used, and much more. Each of these factors are considered in order to determine if the product is as safe for the environment and families as it possibly could be while still being effective.  There are over 2,000 cleaning products with this Certificate – a remarkably small number when considering the sheer number of products out there, and Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning has now joined those elite ranks!

After a process which took months and months, something most carpet cleaning companies don’t bother with, we earned the right to include the DfE label on our product. We are, needless to say, very proud of this.  Oxi Fresh has always worked to be the “World’s Greenest Carpet Cleaner” by practicing water conservation, energy saving techniques, using green cleaning solutions, and just generally trying to be environmentally responsible with our actions. This certificate just further solidifies our confidence in our belief that we provide the greenest carpet cleaning services.

Some other nice things about the DfE approved product is that it comes in a higher concentration than earlier versions. That means Oxi Fresh technicians will use fewer bottles over all, meaning there’s less bottles made and less packaging needed. That all serves to decrease the amount of materials wasted, so we can continue working to protect the environment through our green carpet cleaning. So, from what’s inside the bottle to the bottle itself, this product is truly designed for the environment!
