Preparing for Spring Cleaning
It’s warming up, the snow is retreating, and the sun is out longer. It looks like spring is finally here and, as Alfred Lord Tennyson put it, “In the spring a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of cleaning out the attic.” Well, perhaps that’s not exactly what he said, but it’s true enough. Spring means cleaning and Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning wants to help out. Specifically, we wanted to give you some pre-cleaning tips that should help your spring cleaning be more effective.
1. Make a Plan
Before you begin moving boxes around, painting, and dusting, first come up with a plan. Set aside the amount of time you should spend cleaning. Next, prioritize your projects by their importance and the order they should be done in. For example, you don’t want to clean your carpets and then haul dirty boxes over your clean floor. Once you’ve figured out the amount of time you want to spend and the important projects you want to do, go and get all the supplies you’ll need.
2. If You Can’t, Don’t
Let’s tell the story of Joe, a man with an ugly bathroom. He’s been wanting to renovate it for ages, and this is the year. So he starts breaking up tile and grout, removing cabinets, and then he stops. He realizes he doesn’t know a thing about plumbing or removing big fixtures like the toilet and sink. So the project grinds to a halt, leaving him with a ruined room, lots of dust, and very upset spouse. If you’re going to embark on a major project this spring, do your research and make sure you know what you’ll be getting into. Unless you’re willing to go all the way, don’t.
3. Hire a Pro
You can always hire a professional, though, to help you with the parts of a project you know you can’t do. You might be able to easily demo the bathroom and install new tile and grout, so get help removing the toilet and reconnecting the new plumbing. There are plenty of experts in wiring, carpet cleaning, roof repair, and interior design who can help you this spring. If you know you’ll need their help, though, try to book them in advance so their busy schedule doesn’t derail your projects.
