Fixing Frustration: Wall “Art”
Children’s art projects can be great, if they manage to stay on paper or canvas. Once the little artist branches off to new mediums, like your walls, things rapidly become less adorable. Don’t worry, here are three inexpensive, easy ways to clean up your wandering Picasso’s art spree.
The first solution is very simple – bread. Yep, sometimes balling up a piece of bread and using it to scrub the crayon lines is enough to remove the stains. Another easy option is vinegar. Soak a sponge in some white vinegar and rub the crayon marks with it (watch out for dripping) – the vinegar should help lift the waxy marks off the wall. Finally, there’s always mayonnaise. Put a little mayo over the crayon marks and let it sit there for a minute or two. Afterwards, wipe away the mayo and crayon marks with a damp cloth.
Be sure to test these products in an inconspicuous area first, just to make sure you won’t damage your paint or wallpaper in any way. Also, be sure to wipe down these areas with a wet cloth so no bread/vinegar/mayo is left behind. If you don’t do that, you may have a very unique smelling wall in your house.
