33% of Your Day

Categories: Commercial Carpet Cleaning

If you work in an office with a normal, eight hour shift, that means you spend about a third of your day there, or half of your waking hours. That’s a lot of time spent in one location. What’s more, most of us don’t spend a full eight hours (awake at least) at home during a normal day. That means, like it or not, your office is very much a second home.

So . . . how’s the second home looking? Clean, cheerful, but a bit cluttered? Organized, gray, and dull? Out of sorts and a bit dingy? Not really sure? It’s okay, not all of us pay attention to this sort of thing. Take a minute and look around and the actual furnishings and colors around you – look at your office as a room and not a place where you work. What do you see?

The answer will depend on where you work, but given enough time and enough foot traffic, everyone will eventually be able to say, “I see a dirty office.” A bit of dust certainly won’t cause the business to come crashing down, but a dirty or disorganized office will hurt overall productivity. Think of it like a home. If you have a project at home you want to do, but can’t find the necessary tools and everything is a bit grimy, you either won’t be able to do the job, will be hindered while doing so, or just won’t want to anymore (messes are disheartening.)

The same is true of your office, if it looks distended and messy, it will affect you and everyone else’s attitude and performance. Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about that – humans naturally just begin to reflect their surroundings. What you can do, though, is change the surroundings. Bring out a carpet cleaning company for a commercial carpet cleaning. Bring out professional cleaners to polish everything up and get the office back in shape. Schedule a day for everyone to organize their workplaces and office as a whole. Spend some time making your second home clean and organized and you’ll find it’s a better place to work at. Good Luck!

Carpet – Still Not Flat

Categories: The Guide to Carpet

A month or two ago, we put together a little tour of some unique, beautiful, and amusing carpets and area rugs. Since we do a lot of normal carpet cleaning at Oxi Fresh, it was refreshing for us to see just how much variety there was in the world of carpets. Of course, we just scratched the surface of the artistic world of carpets – or to put in carpet terms – it was only surface cleaning and we want our carpet cleaning services to go down deep. So here’s another round of the odd carpets and area rugs around the world. Continue Reading post – Carpet – Still Not Flat

Earth Day

Categories: Green Carpet Cleaning, Oxi Fresh News

In the Spring of 1969 in the Santa Barbara Channel, a team had just finished drilling an new oil well when there was a blow out – oil, gas, and mud burst out of the new pipe. The crews tried to seal the pipe but by the time they did, the ocean floor itself was leaking massive amounts of oil. What followed was among the worse oil spills in American history, spanning several weeks of new ruptures, failed repair attempts that made the situation worse, and massive environmental damage.

What it also did, though, was inspire Senator Gaylord Nelson. He had visited the site and was driven to do act, to do something about the widespread environmental destruction he saw happening all over America. One year later, with over 20 million people participating, there was a teach-in about the environment called Earth Day. Forty years later, it’s a global event focused on celebrating the earth, striving to make our homes, businesses, and governments more green, and fighting environmental destruction everywhere.

Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning is one among many businesses who’s commitment to being environmentally friendly is due to the activists of the past and present – people who have and still work to keep the well-being of the environment in the forefront of everyone’s minds. Their efforts has affected the way we all think and work, so to them we say thank you. Thank you for striving to create a healthier world for us and, we hope, we can return the favor in some small way by providing green carpet cleanings.

Oxi Fresh wishes everyone a happy Earth Day on April 22nd.

An Ounce of Prevention

Categories: Residential Carpet Cleaning, The Guide to Carpet

I was looking out of my office window today and I saw an abandoned restaurant. From a distance, the building looked like it hasn’t opened up for the day. When I got close to it, though, I saw that the sidewalk was full of shattered bricks, there was broken glass beneath a boarded up window, and decaying phonebooks were stacked outside the entrance.

If you leave something alone too long it will eventually fall apart – it’s one of the few guarantees in life. This is true of carpets as well as buildings. Without proper maintenance, they swiftly fall into disrepair and while emergency restoration can work, it’s far better to schedule regular carpet cleanings. The Color of the Carpet

Categories: The Guide to Carpet

In past posts, we’ve talked about numerous aspects of carpeting, touching on everything from padding to what pile types work where. Something I haven’t discussed is color, partly because until now I wasn’t very familiar with color matching technique. With research under my belt, however, I now feel I can give you a guideline that will help you identify the shades of carpet that will work well for you. So without further ado, here is the Oxi Fresh Guide to Carpet Color Selection. Continue Reading post – The Color of the Carpet
